Joan Martin's Obituary
Was born November 9, 1931. She graduated from North Dallas High School in 1949; she attended SMU and in 1953 started the Joan Martin Dance School in McKinney, TX, which is now called Dance Arts Center. She also taught for 34 years at her Dance Arts Center school in Lewisville, TX, with her daughter. Joan left us to be with God on Friday, December 12th, after a courageous four year battle with lung disease. She was loved by many, especially all the students and their parents, whose lives she touched. She was a kind and loving care giver for many family members; she was a devoted member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. Joan is survived and greatly missed by her husband of 57 years, Perry Martin; and her daughter, Lou Ann Martin Vance and her husband Todd Vance. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Joan’s name to a charity of your choice, or a favor and kindness to someone. Visitation from 3:00 to 4:00 pm, Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Restland Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm, Sunday, in Restland’s Memorial Chapel.
