John Coleman Birdwell's Obituary
John Coleman Birdwell, born in Dallas, Texas, on February 19, 1974, passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2023, at the age of 49. Fondly remembered by many as someone who helped whomever he could, found the good in people and was always a great source for bear hugs. John spent most of his childhood and adolescence in Allen Texas where he graduated high school in 1992. He played soccer and basketball in his youth before transitioning to golf as an adult. Golf became John’s primary sport of choice, where he found competition, relaxation, camaraderie, joy and likely a touch of frustration. In a pinch or inclement weather, Golden Tee was always a welcome substitute. John’s competitive nature continued throughout his life. In 1998 and 2000 he won the “Golden Thumbs” Thumb Wrestling World Champion Competition.
John was preceded in death by grandparents Albert and Marjorie Coleman, JC and Juanita Birdwell. He is survived by his parents, Carl and Beverly Birdwell, sister Liz Heffernan and her husband Robert, brother Thomas Birdwell and his wife Kelly.
His desire to help others continued in death through organ and tissue donation. John’s family is somewhat comforted in that potentially more than 80 people will receive his gift. Through these recipients, John will touch countless family members, friends, and communities.
Visitation will be held 1 pm Thursday January 11th at Trinity Fellowship Church followed by a service at 2 pm. Afterward, life and memorial will be celebrated and open at 3:30 pm at Back 9, 4060 Belt Line Rd, Addison, TX 75001.
