John Clarence Davenport's Obituary
DAVENPORT, JOHN Born July 29, 1931 and passed away January 15, 2008. John graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. He served in the Coast Guard and was 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force Reserves. Joyce and John met and married in Ludington, MI while he was in the Coast Guard. They moved to Southern California and started their family. In 1968 John accepted a position with LTV and moved his family to Dallas where he became well known as a financial business consultant. In 1974 he created a successful general insurance agency. Most recently he enjoyed a management position with Oakhill Inc. Preceded in death by his mother, Joan Davenport; father, J.B. Davenport; and son, John Robert Davenport. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Davenport; daughter, Judy Wymer; grandchildren, Jennifer Wymer and Jonathan Davenport; niece, Julie Coker and husband Kenny and son, Sam; four other special nieces; cousins, Cherie Snowden and husband Charles; Larry Woolf and wife Bara; as well as his much loved extended family and friends. John was an avid golfer, loyal friend, had a great sense of humor, and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held at 10 AM Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Restland Memorial Chapel
