John Gordon Minton's Obituary
John Gordon Milton was born March 20, 1926 in Wichita Falls, Texas and passed away September 25, 2014 in Plano, Texas. Mr. Minton was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Wanda Eldridge Minton, father, Joseph Minton, mother Mary Minton, brothers, Joe, Paul and Cecil, and sister Mary Helen. Mr. Minton is survived by his son Randy Minton and wife Otholene, daughter, Marilyn Flowers, son Mark Minton and daughter Susan Barnes and husband, Randy. Mr. Minton was the very proud grandfather of seven (7) grandchildren; five (5) great-grandchildren; three (3) step grandchildren; eleven (11) step-great grandchildren; seven (7) step great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Minton retired in 1984 as a Vice-President of the Mercantile National Bank of Dallas. In 1950 he earned a BBA from Mid-Western University in Wichita Falls, Texas after having proudly served his county in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946. At the time of his death Mr. Minton was a resident of Emeritus at Collins Oaks in Plano, Texas where he made many great friends including Anne Milne. His family is very grateful for the loving care he received at his Emeritus home. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 6 PM – 8 PM at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, Texas. Internment with Military Honors October 1, 2014 at 11 AM at Restland with a celebration of his life to follow at 1:30 PM at Lebanon Baptist Church, 9404 Lebanon Road, Frisco, Texas, where he was a member for many years. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
