Johnnie Mae Richardson's Obituary
Her master said to her on December 8th,“Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your Master.” Matthew 25:23
Johnnie was born on December 21, 1932 in Columbus, Georgia and raised there by her parents John Eldon and Etta Jewel Wright. She met her sweetheart, F. Don Richardson while visiting her brother, Jerry in Amarillo, TX. They knew each other for 10 days when Don proposed to her. Her brother thought this was too fast and sent her back home. They corresponded in spite of it all and three months later Don sent her a ring in the mail with money for her to return to Texas to marry him. They raised five cantankerous children while Don served in the Air Force. Johnnie loved being a military wife; meeting new people, traveling to new places and living within the military community. She was considered the World’s Best Mother by her children. She raised them instilling Christian values and absolute morals. Her Christian faith was of utmost importance to her. Johnnie was a true model of Christianity. She believed that the Lord leading her was the reason she was blessed with longevity. Her grandmother had been a strong Christian role model and she carried on that same legacy with her grandchildren. She devoted many efforts to serving her Lord in every church of which she was a member during their moves with the Air Force. Her roles included being a Sunday School teacher, a nursery worker, a choir member and working in the kitchen. They settled in Allen, Texas after retiring from the Air Force and became long time members of First Baptist Church of Allen. Johnnie loved life and lived every moment joyfully and to the fullest. Having raised five children on military pay, she enjoyed shopping, immensely, after they were grown. She especially enjoyed shopping for pretty clothes and had a fancy for shoes and boots. Johnnie also enjoyed singing, baking and collecting dolls. While living at Ellsworth AFB, she was a member of the Liberty Belles singing group, where she joyfully expressed her patriotism for her country. And, Johnnie loved to eat! She had a healthy appetite behind that willowy model’s figure. Her contagious smile and her silver bell laughter will be greatly missed. Peacefully she left and peacefully she rests.
Johnnie is survived by her five children: Floyd Don Richardson, Jr. (Donna) of Cambridge, MA; Dora Clardy (Jim) of Florence, SC; Rita Madison (Monte) of Rapid City, SD; C.D. Richardson of Springfield, MO; and Melody Edwards (Kirk Taylor) of Allen, TX. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and hundreds of friends.
Johnnie is preceded in death by her beloved husband; F. Don Richardson, her brother; R. Lamar Wright, her sister; Rebecca Jones, her brother; Jerry Wright, and her great grandson; Finnley Steven Case.
