Johnnye Franklin Gaither's Obituary
GAITHER, JOHNNYE FRANKLIN born on May 31, 1930 in Moody, TX and passed away on May 18, 2013 in Dallas, TX. She is the daughter of late Marshall Franklin and mother, Lucile Vaugh Franklin. Johnnye is preceded in death by her husband, Allison “Al” Gaither. After graduating from Moody High School, she attended the all-girls school, Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas. Johnnye moved to Waco, Texas to work for the Waco Times Herald Newspaper where she met her future husband. She taught business classes at 4C Business School in Waco. Johnnye was the private secretary to Mr. Edward Cameron Bolton when his office was located in the Cameron family home on Austin Avenue. She and her husband moved to Dallas where she worked for Texas Instruments. From there she joined the United States Postal Service as an executive secretary and retired after a long career as a manager on the director’s staff at the main post office in Dallas. She was manager of the telecommunications installations for post offices. After retirement from the U.S.P.S., she worked for EDS regarding telecommunications followed by employment on the staff of the contracts office at the Hyatt Regency Hotel- Downtown Dallas. Johnnye was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas. She is survived by niece, Melva Courtade Ochoa and her husband Dr. James Ochoa of Sterling, Virginia; nephew, Mark Gaither and his family of Frisco, Texas; brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, TE and Mary Gaither of Ft. Worth, Texas; and cousin, Ed Franklin of Temple, Texas. Johnnye was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)-Jane Douglas Chapter in Dallas. Family will receive friends on May 21, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held on May 21, 2013 at 1:30 PM in Restland Memorial Park.
