Joseph Johnson's Obituary
Without warning, God selected a soldier from his army on September 12, 2014, and at 3:25 PM, Joe was called from earth to Heaven’s reward. Joseph Johnson was born on September 1, 1928 to late Earket Johnson & Hester Hardison-Johnson of LeCompte, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Alan Louis Johnson; four sisters, Hattie Holden, Eula Pound, Barbara Anderson and Deoma Jacobs, and three brothers, William, Gordon and Marshall Johnson. He was a member of the armed forces and served in the Korea War. He received a honorable discharge and remained in the Army Reserve until September 28, 1960. He believed in helping others, through donating to numerous community programs. He was a long term supporter of the Dallas Police Funds for fallen officers and their families, and East Texas Boys Group Home. He was always willing to help those whom he felt were in need. This act of giving was based on his spirituality and belief in God. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years, Minnie Hester Johnson, and sister, Corrine VanDyke of Alexandria, Louisiana; two sons, Joseph Gene Johnson and Morris Oliver Johnson; daughters, Claudia Johnson-Hall (Edward) of Lafayette, La, Marie Arita-Howard (Thomas), Jada Watters (Gordon) both of Dallas, Texas; eleven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The visitation for Joseph will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Joseph will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
