Julia Mae Bird's Obituary
Passed away 06-27-09. Born 07-24-24 in Del Rio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; Omie Mae and Rosser Cochron, husband; RF Bird, one son; Thomas Craig Bird and 5 brothers & 2 sisters. Survived by one son; Stephen Bird, two grand children; Julia Gail Bird and Dylan Thomas Bird, one great-grandson; Craig James, two sisters; Martha Kirby of Austin, Tx. and Pat Mittel of Simi Valley, Ca. She had several close neices and nephews and many dear friends. “Julie” was very well loved and admired by all that were blessed to know her. Her personality matched her firey red hair. She grew up in Big Springs, Texas and during WWII, she served the Armed Forces as Army recruiter. She was employed by the government almost 40 years before retiring. Julie also worked at Elks Lodge # 71 the past 25 years. She was extremely dedicated and hard working. She enjoyed all card games, but especially bridge and poker. Also, she worked crossword puzzles every day to keep her mind sharp. The mayor of Big Springs declared July 24th the Julia Mae Cochron Bird Day and awarded her the key to the city.
