Juliet Wilson's Obituary
Sarah Juliet Wilson was the daughter of Jesse Jackson Murray and Lota Mae English Murray of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Juliet was born September 13, 1910, in Sulphur Springs. Her father was a school teacher and County Judge assisting with legislation for highway development in Hopkins County. Her mother taught school before becoming a full time home maker raising 9 children. Juliet had 4 brothers – Gilbert, Milton, Jack and Paul – and 4 sisters – Rebecca, Mary, Vera Ruth and Dorothy. She is predeceased by all of her siblings except her sister Vera Ruth who is 91 years old and still baby sitting with grandchildren. Juliet had 4 daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews too numerous to recount here. One nephew, Jack, could always get Juliet to talk when no one else could. Juliet grew up before there were paved roads or highways. Her family owned a farm west of Sulphur Springs and her grandparents – Uncle Mug and Grandmother English lived near Cumby, Texas. Juliet would ride her race horse (a grey mare) between her home and her grandparents. They traveled to town in a wagon or surrey. Yes, a surrey with the fringe on top. When the Model T’s came out, Juliet was one of the first to learn to drive and would take her mother and siblings over the dirt roads to visit family and friends. The airplane had been invented and some of her uncles learned to fly and would buzz the family farm. Juliet’s brothers built a one seat ferris wheel and let Juliet be their first customer. That is where her mother found her at lunch time. Juliet was a cheerleader in highschool and loved to cheer the boys on. She met her true love and romeo, Taft Wilson during her high school years when Taft’s family moved from De Leon, Texas, to open a drug store with a soda fountain near the courthouse in Sulphur Springs, Texas, where Juliet’s father was county judge. Juliet and Taft were married December 22, 1933. They had 4 daughters together – Ann, Patsy Jane, Sarah and Jean. Juliet studied interior design for a short period and worked with the Fabric Shop in Preston Center with her daughter Patsy Jane while Pat was in high school. Pat and Juliet enjoyed sewing together. Juliet completed many a prom dress as her girls were getting ready for a dance or activity. She also worked for Hillcrest Bank after most of her daughters were in high school. Juliet and Taft enjoyed sharing a condo at Run-away-bay, Texas, with family and friends for many years. They fished, water skied and cooked out. The games, good food, warm hospitality and loving fellowship in their home was enjoyed by many. Juliet’s daughter Ann and family live in Dallas and have many memorable family activities with Juliet and Daddy Taft. Ann’s 3 children Doug, Cynthia and Jeff are also assisting with services for Juliet. Juliet’s daughter Patsy Jane lived many different places while raising 3 boys – Carter, Barton and Taft. Major Taft and wife D’Ann and new son Austin came immediately to assist when Juliet passed. Juliet’s daughter Sarah , lived several different places and Juliet and Taft either visited in Sarah’s home or enjoyed Sarah’s family in their home. Sarah predeceased her mother by about 2 years. Sarah’s son Erik is now living in El Paso, Texas, and her son John is in Korea. Juliet’s daughter Jean raised her children in Lubbock, Texas. Jean became an art teacher and raised 2 children Stacey and Garry. Jean also has a grand daughter Tori. Taft and Juliet moved to Dallas during the depression and lived with Taft’s family on Belmont. They began attending First Methodist Church at Ross and Harwood with Taft’s parents J.B. Wilson and Margaret Jane Irvin Wilson about 1932 or l933. Juliet and Taft joined First Methodist Church in 1935. This was their church home and family for the remainder of their lives. They did outreach and missions work and worked on the church board while raising their 4 daughters. Juliet’s family and Taft’s family were very close and provided a large extended family. Through the years, their Sunday school class – Couples Coop Class – became like extended family. Many things have changed over the years, but the strength of family and friends always remained strong. Juliet had 4 daughters, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren at the time of her death. Ann – children: Doug, Cynthia, Jeffrey Grandchildren: Rian, Erin, Jacob, Jeremy, Griffin Great-Grandchildren: Thomas and Tatum Patsy Jane – children: Carter, Barton, Taft Grandchildren: Anna Claire, Joseph, Austin Sarah – children: Erik and John Jean – children: Stacey and Garry Grandchild: Tori Juliet and Taft made many trips visiting all of these families who lived in Dallas and various parts of the United States. Juliet and Taft continued to be active with their church and church family until Taft passed in 1983. Juliet continued to be active with her siblings, church family and children/grandchildren for the remainder of her life. Juliet had a stroke in 1990 and shared the remainder of her life in the loving care of her daughter Patsy Jane. She moved into Patsy Jane’s home in 1994 and remained with her until her death January 15, 2010. Juliet required 24/7 care from the time of her stroke until the time of her death. This presented the need for many caregivers which created the need to turn her daughter’s home into a one client facility. Corine and Angela were Juliet’s care givers for almost 3 years and were with her until the end. The knowledge and kindness of these lovely ladies has been a blessing for our home. First Methodist Church layman Emmet provided communion for Juliet for almost 8 years. His care has been a blessing to our home and continues to be so during this time of rejoicing. Other care givers who provided devoted care to Juliet were Helen who traveled with Juliet and her daughter while they could; Mary and Lois; Tengho, Dede, and many other lovely people over the 19 years of her care. Juliet passed in her sleep during the morning hours of January 15, at home. She went peacefully and joyfully to our Lord. She joins her husband Taft, daughter Sarah, and other family members and friends. We can just imagine her dancing, playing 42 and singing with her loved ones. We rejoice for her life, care, joy, fun, and Christian love. She will be missed by all of us here; but we look forward to joining her someday.
