Katherine Elizabeth Hulen's Obituary
Hulen, Katherine “Ginger” Elizabeth Mullins age 91 of Dallas, TX went on to be with her Lord and Savior on August 3, 2009. Katherine was born on December 6, 1917 to Catherine Louella Ponder Mullins and Alexander Obrian Mullins. Katherine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Richard “Dick” Leroy Hulen. Katherine grew up in Dallas and was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church Dallas under pastor’s George Truett and Dr. W.A. Criswell and subsequent pastors. She had a love of dance and was a professional dancer in New York City; she toured North America in the late 1930’s and once danced with the Billy Rose Review. Katherine was a proud and loyal employee of Texas Instruments and worked for them for over 22 years, until her retirement in 1973. Back then the employee numbers started with one and numbered sequentially and Katherine was employee #83. She had a passion for genealogy and traveling and combined the two on many an occasion to research her and her husband’s family history. Katherine was a member of the Highland Park Chapter of the National Society of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution, John Chew Chapter Daughter’s of the American Colonists, Lone Star Company Jamestowne Society, Dallas Chapter 6 United Daughter’s of the Confederacy, Texas Society Dames of the Court of Honor, Chapter XXI Colonial Dames of America, Major James McGregor Chapter Colonial Dames XVIIC, Texas Branch Sons & Daughters of the Pilgrims, Dallas-Ft Worth Colony Magna Charta Dames & Barons and the Butchart Garden Club, among others. Katherine also served concurrently as the President of both the state Huguenot Society and the Texas Branch of the Huguenot Society of the Founders of Manakin in the Colony of Virginia for several years. Due to Katherine’s diligent work in genealogy she was able to pass down valuable information to her family regarding their ancestral heritage. Katherine will be greatly missed by her surviving family members, Neva Heard Starkey, Dr. Joe L. & June Perrin, Ramona & Ron Trout, Rhonda & Jeff Osburn, Beverly Perrin, Richard & Jerilyn Perrin and loving friends, Grover & Mavis Stanford. Katherine will also be missed by her many friends and the employees at Presbyterian Village North. Services will be held Friday, August 7, 2009 at 9:30am at the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home 13005 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX 75243.
