Kathryn Juanita Addington's Obituary
Kathryn Juanita Addington was called home on April 3rd 2021.
Juanita was born on October 4th, 1925 in Abbott, Texas, where she grew up on the family farm with her Father and Mother, Adam Brazos and Eliza (King) Epting and her brothers Winston, Harold and Thomas, along with her sisters Gena (Easterling) and Elizabeth (Baker).
After graduation from Abbott High School, Juanita moved to Dallas, where she met her future husband Wayne Addington. They were married and settled down to raise their two children Kay (Ruggiero) and Terry. Later in life, Juanita worked as a legal secretary for Texas Instruments. She and Wayne retired and moved to Cedar Creek lake in the 1980s, where they lived until Wayne passed on. Juanita later moved to Aledo to live with Kyle Jarrell, her oldest grandson (Kay’s oldest son) and his family, wife Kristin and daughters Addington (Addi) and Rebekah. It was Kyle who gave Juanita the moniker “Mamah” that stayed with her for the rest of her days. Toward the end, Juanita lived with Kay and her family, husband Joe Ruggiero and their daughter Victoria.
“Mamah” was the matriarch to an entire brood. Mother to Kay and Terry, Grandmother to Kyle and Kristin, as well as to Victoria and Kay’s younger son, Kevin Jarrell and his wife, Rae. She was great-grandmother to not only Addi and Rebekah, but also to Kevin and Rae’s daughters Olivia, Julia, Lilian and Adalyn.
In addition there were numerous nieces, nephews, first, second and third cousins, all touched by this amazing presence. Everyone who met or knew Juanita was blessed. She was a constant in our large family, and we will all miss her greatly.
Services will be held at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville,Dallas, in the Memorial Chapel at noon on Thursday, April 8th. Reception to follow at the home of Kay and Joe Ruggiero, 3337 Ruidosa, Dallas. All are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
