Lana DeLyn Wilkes' Obituary
Lana DeLyn Wilkes was born August 8, 1945, Baylor Hospital, Dallas, TX and passed away on August 1, 2023 in Austin, TX.
Lana was preceded in death by her parents, L.T. Hankey and Pathie Williamson; her husband, Norman Williamson; and her brother, Winifred Hankey. She is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Jack Wilkes; her children; Preston Bryan and wife, Camille; Tiffany Walters and husband, Robb; her grandchildren, Cole Bryan, Conner Yarbrough, Tyler Walters, Riley Yarbrough, Ashtyn Walters; sisters, Patsy Pettigrew and Sue Rees; and brother, Michael Williamson.
Growing up in Dallas, she graduated from Garland High School in 1964 and was a member of their Dancing Debs drill team. She later attended North Texas State University in Denton where she majored in Art. In 1980 she began her Real Estate career in Lewisville, TX, and retired as a Realtor from Amelia Bullock Realtors in Austin, TX in 2016.
Lana was a fine artist who enjoyed traveling, hiking, dancing and being an adoring grandmother. She hiked over a hundred miles of the Appalachian Trail, climbed Mt. Monadnock and Mt. Elbert, and traveled to Mexico, England, France, Italy, Egypt, and most of the Caribbean Isles.
Her favorite pastimes were hiking and camping with her husband and dogs and socializing with her wide group of friends. She was known for her ebullient personality, tolerant spirit and loyalty.
Lana was a lifelong Christian who loved the Lord and worshiped at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Austin, TX. She wanted her passing to be a joyous celebration of her life and of the many loved ones who gave her such a wonderful journey.
