Laura was such a beautiful and faithful lady and was an inspiration to so many of us. As she suffered through the last year she never let it show to her friends, and that strength will be missed by us all. She was blessed by having such a man as our buddy Art. Laura was a long-time member and teacher of the Seekers Class, and we were all stunned when we learned that we had lost a beloved friend and sister in Christ. On Sunday, we took a few minutes to share our feelings, and we would like to share the spirit of that discussion with you today. Knowing Laura has made it easier for us to understand how Jacob felt when he was met with the loving kindness and forgiveness of Esau?for to know and love Laura was truly like seeing the Face of God on earth. Over the last few years, we have often lifted her name in our prayers because of the terrible and unrelenting illness that afflicted her earthly body, but we have always known that her spirit was strong and beautiful, and she was always an inspiration to all of us. We saw how strong her faith was, and we know that her soul was ready to be welcomed into the place that God has prepared for her. We take comfort in the knowledge that she is now walking and running?even dancing?in the presence of God. We know that Laura was ready for this day. It is we who loved her who are not ready to let her go. So we also pray that God will comfort us, especially Art and Laura?s family, as we all learn to live without her. And we hope and pray that God will remind us that Laura is not really gone from our lives. She will always live in our memories and our heart, and within the great cloud of witnesses described in the Book of Hebrews, who surround us and support us as we run the race that God has given us. And we know that when we reach the finish line of that great race, we will see Laura?s shining face cheering for us and urging us onward?as she always did during our time together.
