Laura Lynn Ellis Metzger's Obituary
Laura Lynn Ellis Metzger passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, in Rockwall, Texas.
Our beloved mother was born in Dallas on March 5, 1937, to Harry E. and Margaret Peterman Ellis. She grew up in Lakewood and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School.
She went on to Kilgore College and was a proud member of the Kilgore Rangerettes. Some of her favorite memories were those while performing as a Rangerette in parades and at the Cotton Bowl. She proudly displayed her “Line 15” license plates to the very end.
Mom loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. She made sure she had a closet full of perfectly wrapped gifts for them at all times.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, sister Doris, and son in law Dane.
She is survived by her children Jake Metzger (Cheryl), Michelle Hatchett, and Macy Shanks (Arthur); grandchildren Tyler Metzger (Jennifer), Charlotte Metzger (John), Maggie Shanks, Andrew Shanks, and Will Shanks; great grandchildren Mason Metzger and Barrett Metzger.
A private service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Citizens for Animal Protection (https://cap4pets.org) in Houston.
