LaVerne "Mimi" Jackson's Obituary
Jackson, LaVerne “Mimi” a loving wife, caring mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2013. LaVerne was born on April 14, 1923 in Brady, Texas. LaVerne attended Brady High School where her peers recognized her inherent class and beauty naming her Homecoming Queen. She met her loving husband, O.C. Jackson, at a dance at Curtis Field in Brady, Texas. The two married in 1950 in Brady and eventually moved to Dallas in 1954 where they raised two wonderful children. LaVerne was longtime member of Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church where she served in many capacities of the Women’s Circle. LaVerne was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, O.C. Jackson a life insurance industry leader in Dallas, Texas and her parents, Oscar and Mary Engdahl. LaVerne is survived by her brother, Dick Engdahl, son, Tony J. Jackson, daughter, Deidra Jackson Fettinger and husband, George Fettinger; grandchildren, Jennifer Jackson Huff, Janna Jackson, Marcus Fettinger, and Tiffany Fettinger; and great grandsons, Henry and Sam Huff. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 3-5 PM at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Restland Memorial Chapel with interment on Monday, November 25 at 2 PM at Resthaven Cemetery, in Brady, TX.
