Love, Carol and all our family
Although we were in the same class at Highland Park, we really didn’t become friends until our first year of Law School. I always appreciated Larry’s intelligence, wit and sense of humor. I particularly remember one summer when most of our classmates were working in law firms gaining valuable experience but we decided to work at Love Field for American Airlines. The pay was much better and we had the opportunity to meet new people. Later, we both were in Washington, DC working at the Department of Justice. Before meeting Carol, he was a frequent and welcomed dinner guest. His army cook experiences had given him the skill to roll out a pie crust quickly and beautifully which made him very popular with my wife, Alexis. It was quickly apparent to us that when Larry started dating Carol that she was THE ONE. When we both got back to Texas, we would still see Larry when he was handling tax cases in the Lubbock area. He was always a welcome dinner guest. He will be missed, he was a great friend. Our condolences to Carol and the entire family.

I was so sad of Larry's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Larry on several projects over two decades. He served as a teacher and program chair for these CPE programs that we delivered through our network, ACPEN, to state CPA societies and associations all over the country. He was very responsible, was an excellent presenter, and had a great sense of humor, in a quiet way. I was lucky enough to have spoken with him last Fall, discussing an educational project. Larry and his family will be in my prayers and the entire ACPEN organization.
I was a tax student of his at SMU Law. Great stories and a favorite of all for his personality and teaching style. My condolences to friends and family.
Larry has been my friend for 35 years. As a revenue officer, I was assigned many taxpayers who were represented by Larry. As can be expected, we butted heads frequently. When I left the IRS to start a private practice as an enrolled agent, I found a very complicated case. In my notes, I found an article written by Larry regarding the Texas Community Property laws. I had questions and wanted to call Larry for clarification but was concerned since we hadn't been friends while I was at IRS. But, I called and Larry, as always, was a gentleman and answered my questions. From there on, Larry and I became friends. We worked together on committees, at his SMU Tax Clinic and for the longest time on the Tax Alliance Conference board of directors.
As demonstrated by my story, Larry was always open to helping other tax professionals. Many of my friends who were encouraged to call him were so surprised when he often answered the phone himself.
I will truly miss him!

I enjoyed Larry's friendship for over 48 years. In his capacity as an attorney, he was a mentor, a colleague and an adversary and he preformed all of these roles with great skill. He was also a lot of fun. My sympathies to his wonderful family.
Larry was a kind and patient mentor to me when I was a young attorney, and he remained a ready friend for over forty more years after he moved back to Dallas. I loved his sense of humor, his caring demeanor, and how much he enjoyed tax controversies. His quiet, calm way of talking was always a comfort to me, even in stormy times. The world is a lesser place without him, and I send my condolences to Carol and the entire family.
