Leonard Henry Repp's Obituary
Leonard Henry Repp, better known as “Mike,” passed away on April 4, 2022 in at the age of 101 in Garland, TX. Born on October 4, 1920 in the farming community of Endicott, Washington, Mike, one of seven siblings, worked and studied his way into Washington State University, soon thereafter meeting his future wife, Twyla Rose Moehnke.
While working at a service station to support his studies, Mike turned on a customer’s car radio one morning to learn of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force, serving with distinction in the Pacific with the 312th Bombardment Group through the war’s end. Upon his return, he married Twyla, beginning a 53-year marriage and a 40-year career with Mobil Oil. His work took his growing family – he and Twyla would eventually raise two daughters and a grandson – from Portland, Oregon to Seattle, Washington; Metuchen, New Jersey; and finally, to Dallas, where Mike became a devoted congregant of Bethany Lutheran Church.
After Twyla’s passing, Mike’s later years were blessed with the love and companionship of his partner, Kris McDowell, at whose home he left the world he had strengthened and protected, surrounded by loved ones. He is preceded in death by his wife Twyla and his daughter Elizabeth Carpenter, and is survived by his partner Kris; his brother Dale Repp; his daughter Ann Repp, her husband Bill Cassell, their son Benjamin Cassell and wife Emma, and two great-grandsons, Martin and Thomas Cassell; and his grandson Chris Carpenter. Family Services were held at Restland Memorial Park; in his memory, gratitude may be expressed in lieu of flowers to Bethany/Central Lutheran Church, 1000 Easton Rd., Dallas.
