Leslie Barbara Depew's Obituary
Leslie Barbara Depew, known as Barbara, passed away in Dallas, TX on January 28, 2026, shortly after turning 76 years old. A New Years baby, she was born on January 1, 1950, in Denton, TX.
She was the beloved daughter of Leslie and Mary Avis Depew and sister to Michael Depew. She joins her parents and older brother. She is survived by her cousins Stewart Depew, Nancy Depew Edie, Brenda Dankowski, Jane Depew, Sherrie Lee, Ronald Kerby, Jerry Kerby, and Sharon Sullivan. She is also survived by her nephew Matthew Depew and her great-nephew Ben Depew and great-niece Iris Depew.
Barbara grew up with her brother in Cockrell Hill in a house their father built. She graduated from Kimbell High School and attended college at the University of Texas at Arlington where she majored in English. She was a beautiful writer and a talented and committed soccer player. She also enjoyed a lifelong passion for the arts, including paintings, film, theater, and music. Additionally, she was an animal-lover, taking in numerous animals over the years to provide them with a safe and nurturing home. She had a heart for helping others, humans and animals alike.
Barbara was generous, dedicated, bold, and caring. She blessed her friends and family with her loving heart. She was interested in their lives and did anything she could to make them feel special. She remembered birthdays and always planned out something nice to make people feel celebrated and loved. She looked after others, including caring for her mother during her final years. She enjoyed discussing current events, art, and the details of people’s lives. She was encouraging, thoughtful, and kind, and she will be deeply missed.
Services will be held Saturday, February 15, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Wildwood Chapel, Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. A reception will follow.
