Lia M Peterson's Obituary
Lia Marie Peterson was born July 12, 1926, in Gaitheim, Germany, and passed away on January 29, 2016, in Garland, Texas. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard; her adored Mother, Dora Hoitz; and her Father, Erich Hoitz. She is survived by her son, Martin Peterson and his wife Cindy, of Garland, Texas; her daughter, Christl Kronbergs and her husband, Pete, of Dayton, Ohio; her grandchildren, Gabriel and Nolan; her sister Ursula Markin and her husband Ricardo, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her eldest sister, Oswalde Blaess of Germany; her niece and nephew Lori LaBarrie and Ric Markin; many other close family members, innumerable extended family members, and dedicated friends. Born in Gaitheim, Germany, into a family of entrepreneurs, she survived both polio and the storms of World War II. After the War, she met and married American GI and her sweetheart, Richard—and the couple remained together for more than fifty years. She juggled the roles of homemaker, full time employment with Varo Semiconductor, wife and Mother, and devoted friend. Her husband’s Air Force career took them to many locations, including Roswell, New Mexico; Grand Forks, North Dakota; Council Bluffs, Iowa; Wiesbaden, Germany; Oklahoma City and Ardmore, Oklahoma; and Garland, Texas, where she lived for over forty years. Her huge personality—always seasoned with humor and fun—brightened every room she entered. Her generosity of spirit, her joy in sharing her life with others, and the goodness of her heart were evident to everyone who met her … and especially to those who were fortunate enough to know her well. To many, she was and will always be Aunt Lia. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, February 3, 2016 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. The service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at 12:30 PM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
