Lillian H. Rudd's Obituary
Lillian Harvey Rudd, age 102, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 9, 2019. Lillian Clara was born in Great Bend, Kansas, on November 7, 1916, to Chester Clayton Harvey and Ethel Britton. She attended Riley Elementary School in Great Bend, graduated from Belpre, Kansas High School and attended Fort Hayes State College in Hays, Kansas. Lillian lived in Lowell, Arkansas, with her parents before she married her high school sweetheart, Samuel Judson Rudd, on December 30, 1938. They lived in Pittsburg, Kansas; Stillwater, Oklahoma; Oklahoma City; Shreveport, Louisiana, and settled in Dallas in 1955. Lillian and “Jud” were blessed to have 60 years together before his death in 1998.Lillian had a passion for life and was fully engaged in all things she loved: family, church, sports, gardening, fishing, sewing and ceramics. Lillian and Jud were members of Casa View Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School 30+ years. Jesus Christ was Lillian’s greatest love and passion. She had a personal relationship with the Lord that could be seen in the loving way she served those around her. She participated in the Prayer Room, Glory Land Singers, Homebound Ministry and Bible study. She and Jud were avid campers and charter members of Wewannago Camping Club. Lillian was blessed with a quick wit and appreciated entertaining her friends with jokes and clown skits.Lillian was an athlete, and competed in Sr Olympics from 1994 – 2009 in the following events: basketball, swimming, pickleball, shot put, discus, free throws, and shuffleboard. In 2008 she was inducted into the Texas Senior Games Hall of Fame.Family was Lillian’s priority: she was a loving mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Lillian is survived by: Judy Osteen (husband Sam) of Dallas, TX, Ethel Cromer (husband Stan) of Dominican Republic, and Sam Rudd (wife Dawn) of Taos, NM. Also survived by 4 grandchildren: Virginia (husband David) Simank, Marian (husband Ryan) Engelland, Elizabeth (husband Eric) Williams, David Osteen (wife Carolyn), and 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.A memorial service will celebrate Lillian’s life at 11:00 am, Friday, August 9, 2019, in Ellis Chapel at Park Cities Baptist Church, 3933 Northwest Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75225, followed by a reception.Memorial donations may be made to Young Life, P.O.
