Linda Lois Adams' Obituary
ADAMS, LINDA LOIS A longtime resident of Plano. Linda passed away August 26, 2012. She was born in Dallas on February 17, 1941 to Joseph V. Adams, Sr. and Mabel Lois Hensel Adams. Linda graduated from Southern Methodist University and was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. An often recognized educator, she taught English for 41 years in DISD at W.W. Samuell High School. For many years Linda chaired the English Department and also served as cheerleader sponsor. A believer in the value of skilled composition, she taught Ready Writing and assisted with course curriculum development within Region 10. Linda demanded high commitment from her students, but was always available to instruct, provide counsel, write letters of recommendation or just offer encouragement. Her greatest joy was hearing of a former student’s college or career success and many lifetime relationships resulted from the continuing interest she took in their lives. Linda loved both opera and the theater. The church played a very important part in her life, and she enjoyed the role of office volunteer for many years. Linda is survived by her brother, Joe Adams, Jr. and wife, Sue of McKinney; niece, Angie Adams Sifferman and husband, Joe and their daughters, Avery and Sloane, and many extended family members. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at The Church of the Holy Nativity in Plano. The family will receive condolences immediately after the service in the parish hall. Entombment will follow at Restland Abbey Mausoleum in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution be made to The Church of the Holy Nativity, the American Cancer society or a charity of your choice.
