Linda Dianne Metcalf Lancto
Linda, the first child of John and Manon Metcalf, was born on April 3, 1960 in Dallas, Texas and after a aggressive recurrence of Cancer was called home to the Lord on January 16, 2020 at her home in Duncanville, Texas. Linda grew up in Oak Cliff and was a 1978 graduate of Kimball High School. She participated in choir and was on the Troyanne drill team at Browne Jr. High School and the Troubadear drill team at Kimball. Linda worked at M.E. Moses during and after high school, Target Department Store, Payless Cashways, Cintas and Jamieson Fence Company. She married Michael Raymond Lancto March 2, 1996 at Kessler Park Baptist Church, which was where her parents were married. She was a fan of Rock music, especially Chicago, Jim Croce, Duran Duran, Metallica, local Dallas groups - Joe City, Molly Maguires, Pantera and many others. Linda was also an avid fan of Nascar Racing, with her favorite racing team of Richard and Kyle Petty.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Manon Metcalf, grandparents Scott and Clara Metcalf, and Ed and Fay Gibbs. She is survived by her husband Michael, father, John Metcalf, sister Susan Richardson and husband Charles, brother Scott Metcalf and nephew, John Richardson. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Shirley Coulston, Mark and Soncha Lancto, Cheryl and Kelly Mahon, Taylor and Cassie Owen, Ashley and Chance Fraze, Emily Owen, Sean Lancto, April and Taylore McAnally, and many other nephews, nieces and cousins, her best-friend Terri Layne Miller, godchildren - Matthew Parlington and Shannon Miller, and special friends - Nancy Simms Smith and Matthew Johnson. A special thank you to her cousin, LeeAnn Metcalf for her assistance and care during Linda’s illness.
Linda and Michael were not blessed with children, but raised and loved many pets. She loved the poem of the Rainbow Bridge and has several cats, dogs, birds and an iguana waiting to meet her there. Her furbabies, Khaleesi, Moto, Sly and birds will surely miss her.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home. Her service will be the following morning, Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Restland Funeral Home in The Wildwood Chapel at 10:00 am, with burial following. She will be laid to rest next to her grandparents, Ed and Faye Gibbs.
Because of her love for Nascar racing and animals, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Victory Junction Gang (www.victoryjunction.org) and Tri-Cities Animal Shelter or an Akita rescue, Big Cat rescue or humane society of your choice.
