Lisa Ching Ping So's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Mrs. So, Yip Ching Ping
(Affectionately known as "Sister Ping")
August 1, 1955-May 27, 2025
Mrs. So, Yip Ching Ping, lovingly known as Sister Ping, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, at the age of 69, after a courageous battle with illness.
Sister Ping was the only daughter in her family. At the age of seven, she moved to Hong Kong to live with her uncle and aunt, who lovingly raised her and laid the foundation for her quiet strength and resilient spirit.
In 1981, she married Mr. So (Brother Kin), and together they immigrated to the United States that same year. Their family grew with the birth of their daughter Nadia in 1982 and son Alex in 1988. As Brother Kin managed the family restaurant, Sister Ping poured her heart into raising their children and caring for their home. She was the heart and pillar of the household--gentle, dependable, and quietly strong.
Sister Ping's life was one of selfless devotion. Through her warmth and perseverance, she built a warm, close-knit, loving home. She found her greatest joy and comfort in seeing her children and grandchildren happy. Today, Sister Ping is survived by her devoted husband Brother Kin; her daughter Nadia and son Alex; and two beloved grandchildren, Noah (15) and Harper (8), who brought her endless delight.
In August 2020, Sister Ping was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Throughout her five-year journey of treatment, she was lovingly accompanied and cared for by Brother Kin, whose faithful presence was a deep blessing. Their bond was a beautiful testament to lifelong love and unwavering partnership.
Sister Ping will be remembered for her gentle spirit, diligence, kindness, and integrity. She touched the lives of many and was deeply respected by all who knew her. She hoped for nothing more than for her loved ones to live well, love deeply, and support one another.
Her daughter shares:
*Mom was a caretaker at heart.
From a young age, she devoted herself to caring for others—always putting their needs before her own. Like so many moms, she nurtured us with love, strength, and endless selflessness.
As much as it hurts to say goodbye, we are so grateful for the memories we shared. Noah and Harper were lucky to know their Grammy—to be wrapped in her warmth and guided by her gentle spirit. *She will be missed beyond words and remembered always—with love, gratitude, and honor.
Sister Ping, your smile, your kindness, and your love will forever live on in our hearts.
