DALLAS-Lorraine Shropshire, 90, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, golfer and artist, entered eternal life on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at her home in the loving care of her family and caregivers. Visitation/Rosary Service: Friday, March 4, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. – 800 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m., Restland Funeral Home, Abbey Chapel, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75234. Mass of Christian Burial: A celebration of Lorraine’s life, Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., St. Rita Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Road, Dallas, Texas 75244 Burial: Following the Mass at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75234. Lorraine was born to John A. and Minnie S. Johnson on March 28, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School. Shortly after graduation from high school she met Charles T. (Chuck) Shropshire. Chuck was stationed with the Navy in Minneapolis. Lorraine and Chuck were married on May 1, 1943 in her parent’s home. Following World War II, Lorraine, Chuck and their daughter, Nancy moved to Amarillo, Texas where Chuck began his optometry practice. In the following years Lorraine and Chuck had five more children (a total of three girls and three boys). Throughout her life as an adopted Texan living in Amarillo, and later in Houston and Dallas, Lorraine was a devoted mother, scout leader, chauffeur and artist, operating her own ceramic art business. Lorraine was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church for over fifty years and served in many Altar Society and fund raising roles. Her family would like to thank her caregivers, Bert Johnson, Edna Stevenson and Brenda Honeywell, as well as the St. Rita Catholic Church community who ministered to Lorraine this past year. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck, her son, David, and her granddaughter, Kate. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be given to the Katherine Elizabeth Shropshire Endowed Scholarship in the School of Nursing at University of Texas at Arlington, in care of Dean Anne Bavier, P. O. Box 19407, Arlington, Texas 76019, or to St. Rita School, 12521 Inwood Road, Dallas, Texas 75244. Lorraine is survived by her children, Nancy Akeroyd and Susan McCoy, Michael Shropshire and Barbara, Diane Sullivan and Tom, Janet Sark and Bob, and Dan Shropshire and Patsy; daughter–in-law, Linda Shropshire; grandchildren, Leslie Gegen and Fred, Denise Scanlin and Mike, Paula Williams and Sam, Lee Shropshire, Jon Shropshire and Theresa, Anne Vanzant and Timberon, Jeremy Patterson, Travis Sullivan, Max Sullivan, Ashley Sullivan, Bonnie Reynolds and Zac, Frank Sark, Daniel Shropshire, Steve Shropshire, Shelly Shropshire and Mike Shropshire; great–grandchildren, Brettley Flowers, Jaydin Shropshire, Zachariah Shropshire, Mandy Gegen, Ryan Gegen, Hayley Scanlin, Michael Scanlin, Hilary Scanlin, Ava Williams, Emma Williams, Waylon Reynolds, Wyatt Reynolds, and Gabriel Vanzant.
