Loudell Liston Wood's Obituary
Memorial service for Loudell Wood will be held at 11:00 am, May 10, 2016 at First United Methodist Church Richardson. Loudell was born July 21, 1921, in Elysian Fields, Texas, to Walter L. Liston and Ada Jay Liston. Loudell graduated from Elysian Fields High School with Salutatorian Honors, Bachelor of Science Degree from Centenary College, and a Master of Science in Liberal Arts degree from SMU. Loudell was listed in the 1941-1942 Whose Who in American Universities and Colleges. Loudell had an illustrious career as an educator, beginning in East Texas in the early 1940s, continuing in Austin, and concluding with a twenty-eight year career with Richardson Independent School District. Loudell’s caring and nurturing ways with her students were widely known and admired. Loudell was a long time member of First United Methodist Church, Richardson; Richardson Woman’s Club; Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Sorority for Women Educators; Richardson Book Clubs; and Richardson Retired School Personnel. Loudell is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Susie and Dana Jones of Frisco, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Bobbie Ellen and Jerry Roberts of Fort Worth, Texas; sister Nolly Sue McCarty of Elysian Fields, Texas; granddaughter Kelly Will and husband Nate, and their children Emma and Brooks; granddaughter Kim Hein, and her children Lindsey and Greg; and granddaughter Kelly Johnson and husband Stephen, and their daughter Nicole; and numerous longtime friends. Loudell was preceded in death by Franklin Pierce Wood, Jr., the love of her life, in 1993. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
