Lucy Frances Watson's Obituary
WATSON, LUCY Lu Fan was born December 15, 1913 to Marie Estee and Dallas J. Patrick and went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 11, 2008 at the age of 94. She spent her lifetime in Dallas, graduating from Forest High School in 1931, and SMU in 1935, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She received many honors. She was proudest of her induction into Mortar Board and the life long friends that provided. She taught for the Dallas Independent School District until 1939. She married Charles E. Watson on January 14, 1939. DISD’s policy at that time did not allow for female teachers to be married so she continued her teaching career at Rowlett, then a small two story building that housed twelve grades. She put teaching aside to raise her three daughters, and she returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher for many years. Her Christianity and church involvement were very important to her. She grew up at First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Wilshire Baptist Church for the past 48 years serving as an adult Sunday School teacher many of those years. She lived the last eleven years at the Forum on Park Lane where she greatly enjoyed the community of people. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Pope, Charlene Law and husband Bob, Mitzi Bass and husband Hal, grandchildren Richard Lynch and Stacy Klingler, Stephanie and Kevin Redmond, Carolyn and Mark Murray, Brad and Sheri Law, Jessica and L.B. Vaught, Franklin and Amanda Bass, and 9 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, February 15, 2008 from 4-6 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A memorial Service will be held Saturday February 16, 2008 11:00 A.M. at Wilshire Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wilshire Baptist Church, 4316 Abrams Rd., Dallas, Texas 75214 or Vitas Hospice, 8585 N. Stemmons Frwy Suite 700, Dallas, Texas 75247.
