Mr. Malcolm Dennis Lafferty's Obituary
Malcom Dennis Lafferty, born Sept 24,1939 in Burbank, California, passed away in Quitman County, Texas on Tuesday June 13th. He was 83 years old. Dennis was the son of Malcom Lee Lafferty and Margaret (Honey) Kathryne Bass Lafferty. He attended Garland TX High School, Class of 57’ and graduated Texas Tech with a Degree in Education. After a tour of duty in the National Guard, he began teaching History at Galena Park HS, in Houston. After relocating to Dallas, Dennis engaged in a career of handcrafted wood flooring installation and repair, as well as furniture creations. Many of his restorations and creations can be found in University Park homes and residences.
Dennis was well renowned and respected for his skills and craftsmanship as well as his engaging and perceptive conversational skills, due in large part to his avid reading and writing interests.
Dennis was preceded, by his parents and sister Laurel Anne Lafferty Black. He is survived by his niece, Dawne and nephew Danny and their children.
His legacy of teaching, handcrafted wood products, written works and whit and engaging charm will be fondly remembered by all he encountered.
