Mamie Lou McWhirter's Obituary
MCWHIRTER, MAMIE LOU Born January 17, 1910 and looking forward to her 101st birthday, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 at her home following a few months of failing health. “Aunt Mamie Lou” to her many friends and surviving nieces and nephews, will be remembered as fiercely independent, self reliant and “feisty”. Born in Mississippi and raised in Oklahoma, despite early childhood polio which limited her mobility, she maintained her independence and enjoyed a long and successful career as a seamstress for Neiman Marcus, Marie Levels and other fine retailers. As a member of Lovers Lane Methodist Church she remained faithful in her gifts and service. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00PM Friday, January 14, 2011 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held at 12:30PM Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Restland Memorial Chapel.
