Marcelle Douglass Hoskins' Obituary
Marcelle Douglass Hoskins, 92, passed away on December 20, 2009, in Fort Worth, Texas. Marcelle was born in Clarkton, Missouri on December 19, 1917 to Grover A. and Maud Luckett Douglass. She attended Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau and taught in rural schools in southeast Missouri before and shortly after marrying Glen Hoskins on June 25, 1938. They moved to Dallas, Texas in 1948, where her husband was on the faculty at Southern Methodist University for 27 years. They moved to Richardson, Texas in 1953, where Marcelle was active at the First United Methodist Church, Richardson Historical Society, and DAR. Marcelle was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Glen Hoskins, former Mayor of Richardson, Texas; her parents; three brothers–Owen Douglass, Dale Douglass, and John Douglass; and great-granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Becan. She is survived by daughters Kay Brown and her husband, Clayton, of Fort Worth, Texas; Beverly Todd and her husband, Philip, of Dallas, Texas; sister, Hortense Russom of Campbell, Missouri; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home on Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 PM. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Richardson, Texas on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Richardson Library.
