Margaret Theresa Karnavas' Obituary
Karnavas, Margaret went to The Lord peacefully in her sleep with her son by her side, May 11, 2014. She was united with her “Darling” E.C. (Steve), her husband of 67 years, and her devoted son, Steve. Margaret was born, October 30, 1922, to Peter and Caroline Urschel in Ontario, Ohio. She was the second of eight children. She grew up in Mansfield, Ohio where she met her lifetime love, E.C. in the 4th grade. They had their first date on April 23, 1940 and were married in 1943 in Los Angeles, CA before E.C was deployed to Europe during WW II. After his service in the Army, they moved to Dallas for E.C. to attend SMU and later pursue a career at Texas Instruments and Textool Products. Since 1948, she raised her family in Dallas where she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother/great-grandmother. Margaret enjoyed sewing her entire life. She spent many hours sewing items for family, friends, and charities. She loved spending time with her family and many life-long friends and always showed love regardless of the circumstances. She was an inspiration to all who knew her throughout her life time. She was an angel to many and especially to her family. She will be deeply missed by all! Margaret is survived by her son, Gary and his wife, Sherry; Linda Karnavas, Steve’s wife; grandchildren, Andrea Gentry and husband, Chris, Benjamin Karnavas, Joseph Karnavas, Monica Larsen and husband, Daniel; great-granddaughter, Mae Margot Larsen; siblings, Fred Urschel and wife, Janie, Flo Kalb and husband Mel, Dave Urschel and wife, Betty; sister in-law, Irene Nicolaou; step-grandchildren, Valerie Borgman, Kimberly Bartlett, Ashley Wyatt; as well as many nieces and nephews. A Trisagion will be held Monday, May 19, 2014 7:00 PM at Restland Memorial Chapel with visitation to follow. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2014 10:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church located at 13555 Hillcrest Rd, Dallas.
