Margie Barker's Obituary
August 31, 1915 – March 24, 1018 “She is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit, whose leaf does not wither. Whatsoever she does prospers”. Psalms 1:3Margie was born to parents, Ora and Newton Onslow Ray, and the youngest of three sisters. Her parents were faithful Christians and her father was a gospel minister throughout his adult life. The memories of her parents were ones she most cherished. Margie’s faith was the center of her life and the Skillman Church of Christ was the church of her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Leonard, and sisters, Evelyn and Robbie. Though they had no children of their own, it never prevented her from “mothering” many of us. Her approach to parenting was soft and encouraging. She had a strong impact on our family through the years. She was generous to all she met and shared willingly the talents and gifts God gave her. Margie would have been 103 in August, and the last in our family to be a part of “The Greatest Generation”.Margie is survived by nieces Ann Hailey and Glenda Brown, and nephew Ray McClung, and 15 great nieces and nephews.Services will be Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Restland’s Wildwood Chapel. Visitation and viewing held at 12:00 noon, funeral 12:30 PM. Burial to follow. Our eternal gratitude to devoted caregivers Irene and Hana, and The Courtyard Staff Christian Care.
