Marguerite B. Williams' Obituary
A Beautiful Life Marguerite Brooks was born November 3, 1917 to Earlle Brooks and Indiana “Anna” Chancelor Brooks in Blooming Grove, Texas. She departed this life Monday, November 17, 2014 in Allen, Texas. At an early age, Marguerite moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she graduated Phoenix Union Colored High School. After graduation, Marguerite moved to Dallas, Texas where she began her work career. She also attended El Centro College in Dallas, Texas. In May 1956, Marguerite joined Dallas Independent School District “DISD” as a Cafeteria Manager at John Henry Brown Elementary School. She continued her work in management at DISD until she retired in May 1981. Strong, independent and an excellent cook. Marguerite professed her faith in Christ and became a member of Bethel AME Church under Reverend B.T. Alexander. She joined and sang in the church’s gospel choir and served on the usher board. She later moved her membership to Bethel Memorial Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas where she served on the usher and stewardess boards. Marguerite was united with Carden Cowens who preceded her in death. On March 9, 1963, she was united with Roy L. Williams who preceded her in death. Marguerite was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Georgia May Brooks and Joe Frances Walton; brother, Simuel Patrick Brooks; half sisters, Alzena Brooks, Beatrice Brooks and Olivia Brooks; stepdaughter, Rose Young; stepson Ralph Williams and two nephews, Simuel P. Walton and Robert J. Walton. She leaves a host of family and friends to honor and celebrate her spirit daughter, Margaret J. Douglas of Denver, Co; son, Marvin W. Cowens (Barbara) of Plano, TX; stepsons, Roy L. Williams, Jr (Lillian) of Lancaster, TX, Marvin Williams (Hulya) of Plano, TX and Stanley Williams of Dallas, TX; grandsons, Gregory W. Douglas, Sr. of Houston, TX and Antony R. Douglas (Lea) of St. Paul, MN; granddaughters, Ana R. Douglas of San Francisco, CA, Latonia Price (Dennis) of Rowlett, TX, Rochelle Johnson (Archie) of Lancaster, TX and Andrea Parker (Jeffrey) of Rowlett, TX; great grandsons, Gregory W. Douglas, Jr of St. Paul, MN and Carden R. Douglas of Houston, TX; great granddaughter, Kaylah D. Douglas of Houston, TX; great great grandson Cayden R. Douglas of Houston, TX; nephews, Richard E. Walton (Shelia) of Tomball, TX and Lamarr A. Walton (Suzanne) of Granby, CT, nieces, Marva Walton-Groves of Moreno Valley, CA, Doris Walton-Moreland of Peoria, AZ, Terry L. Walton of Peoria, AZ and Bettye Davis of Rancho Cucamonga, Ca and special long time friends Mary L. Payne and Betty Marshall of Dallas, TX. The visitation for Marguerite Williams will be from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Friday, November 21, 2014 at Restland FuneralHome. The service for Marguerite will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 3:00 PM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
