Preceded in death by her husband, Drury “Pat” Melone; father, Terby Terbush; and mother, Tessie Terbush. Survived by children- Vicki Quesenberry, Gail & Richard Kamper, Lori & Mike Wisdom, Patrick & Cari Melone; grandchildren – Austin Quesenberry, Alyce Quesenberry; Preston & Jen Kamper, Megan & Brent Johnson, Lauren & Jonathan Shotts; Joshua Wisdom, Kyle Wisdom, Trent Wisdom; Joey Melone, Matt Melone, Presley Melone, Faith Melone; great granddaughter, Hayden Kamper; brother, Victor Terbush; sister, Bonnie Greenwood; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. Marie was raised in western Oklahoma moving approximately 20 times by 4th grade as her father worked to build the highway across the panhandle area. The family settled in Buffalo where she completed her schooling and made many lifelong friends. The oldest grandchild on both sides, she grew up surrounded by grandparents and lots of aunts and uncles. After graduation from Buffalo High School in 1949, she moved to Tulsa for Nurses Training at Hillcrest Hospital. While still in training, she met Pat in March of 1952. Upon graduation, they were married September the same year. She worked as a RN charge nurse in Labor and Delivery; her love for babies evident to all. After three years, they decided she would discontinue nursing to be home with their children. They lived in Tulsa until 1956 when they moved to Texas for a new job opportunity for Pat. Passionately dedicated to her roles as wife and mother, Marie loved, encouraged, supported and cared for her family. She continued to use her nursing skills long after her official retirement, giving nursing care and advice to family, neighbors, and friends alike. She had a heart to show love and mercy to those around her. This was evidenced by her ministry to senior citizens which she began in 1958, taking her little ones along for the visit. Marie was devoted to family … Melones, Caldwells, Terbushs. If there was a gathering, she was there to celebrate and fellowship with those she loved. She had no less love and commitment to Pat’s family than she did her own, because they were also her family. In addition to all the family gatherings, she looked forward to her Hillcrest Nurses reunions and Buffalo Class of ’49 annual reunions. She played golf, bridge, pinochle, and dominoes. All those activities were only excuses to enjoy time with others and invest in their lives. She and Pat loved to travel and spend time together. She was so proud of her family and especially loved all her grandchildren, and carried pictures of them to share everywhere she went. Marie was a longtime member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church. Marie will be remembered for her love and commitment to family, her bright sweet smile and the joy with which she lived each day. The children will receive friends and family for visitation on Thursday evening May 11, 2017, from 6-8pm at Restland Funeral Home. Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 3:30pm at New Covenant Presbyterian Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
