Marilyn Downing's Obituary
Marilyn Downing passed away peacefully on November 20, 2018, at the age of 87 years. A native of St Paul, Minnesota, Marilyn eventually found her way to southern California and embraced the sun and her love of the beach. Marilyn took to the friendly skies and lived the dream flying across the country as a stewardess for TWA until she met the love of her life, Lloyd Downing, who would become her husband. Marilyn and Lloyd raised two children and embraced two wonderful grandchildren that completed the life she always wanted. Marilyn was a devoted mother who shared her love of golf and music with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her weekly golf outings with “the gals” at Prestonwood Country Club in Dallas. Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd H. Downing, Jr.. Marilyn is survived by her son and daugher-in-law, Paul and Cheryl Downing, of Dallas, and daughter CaraLynn Telford of Cary, NC, and grandsons Corbin Telford, DVM and Drew Telford. Also surviving is her twin sister, Marlene Hunter, of Pacific Palisades, CA and sister, Janet Smith (Bill) of the Columbus, Ohio area. Per Marilyn’s wishes, a private memorial ceremony will take place at one of her favorite destinations, Maui, Hawaii, at a later date.
