Marion Margaret Prentice Brown Stonaker's Obituary
Marion Margaret Prentice Brown Stonaker, of Dallas, TX, went to be with the Lord at the age of 93 on August 30, 2025. She was born on February 28, 1932, in Buffalo, NY, to James Hamilton Brown and Elizabeth Prentice Brown. Her parents immigrated from Scotland and settled in Buffalo, where they built a life rooted in their heritage and community.
On April 9, 1955, Marion married Haskell Ray Stonaker in El Paso, TX. Together, they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, camping, and fishing—activities that brought them joy and adventure. In the 1990s, Marion volunteered with the Texas Crime Prevention Association, helping at local conferences and selling TCPA t-shirts.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and beloved husband Haskell “Buddy” Stonaker. Marion is survived by her son, James “Jimmy” Ray Stonaker; daughter, Vickie Stonaker; grandson, Sean Patrick Snow; and two great-grandsons, Major Austin King Snow (and his mother Veronica King) and Cooper Haskell Snow (and his mother Jen Snow).
She is also survived by sister-in-law Karen Stonaker Ball and her son Stephen, along with his wife Alica Ball; son Kevin and his wife Shelly Ball; son Gary Ball and his daughter Charlie Ball. Additional surviving family includes Edward Stonaker, his wife Paige, and their son DJ Stonaker of Houston, TX; and Randy Stonaker and his wife Stephanie of North Carolina. Marion had many extended family members in Scotland through her parents’ lineage.
In Dallas, Marion cared for children in her home for many years and worked at two Mother's Day Out programs. She also worked at Russell Stover Candies at NorthPark Shopping Center and was a proud member of the Blossom Bumble Bee Red Hatters in Paris, TX. Marion and Buddy moved to Paris in 1999, and in 2021, she relocated to Richardson, TX, with her little dog Barney, where she lived independently in a senior community. She joyfully celebrated her 93rd birthday with friends at Twin Rivers Senior Living.
Services have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home, located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas, 75243. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, beginning at 9:30 AM at Restland's Wildwood Chapel. The service will begin promptly at 10:30 AM same day.
