Marvin Lockwood Davison's Obituary
Marvin L. Davison, son of Lillian and William F. Davison was born in McCaulley, Texas, September 18, 1920. He graduated from Hamlin High School, attended Texas Tech University, and graduated from North Texas University with a degree in Business Administration. Marvin began his Southwestern Bell career in Dallas, Texas. And at this time, he was very active in Civic Affairs. He was honored at a Testimonial Luncheon for his “Yeoman Service to the Community”. Fred Lange, Director of Dallas County, was M. C. at that time. At that time, he was elected or re-elected to the boards of Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Child Guidance Clinic, Dallas Community Chest, Dallas Crime Commission, Dallas Heart Associations and Junior Achievement of Dallas. He also served as a director of Better Business Bureau, the Central Business District Association, Dallas Downtown Club, and Industrial Dallas, Inc. and served a three-year term on Trust Fund Advisory Council of the Community Chest. Other civic affairs in which he was active were the Cotton Bowl Association, Rotary Club, and Park Cities Lion Club. He was a charter member of the Dallas Assembly and granted a Life Membership. Marvin served as a Deacon of East Dallas Christian Church for many years and was a long time member of The Sanders Class. He married Betty Geer, his college sweetheart on June 27, 1942. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. “Da” was a great babysitter. His extraordinary sense of humor uplifted all who met him during his lifetime. He and Betty traveled worldwide with enthusiasm and awe. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Howard, Daisy, Warren, Jewell, June and Frances, precious son, William and beloved daughter, Jan Davison Whitcomb. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty; son Gary and his wife Barbara; grandson, Ryan; son-in-law, Phil Whitcomb; grandson, Drew and wife Katie; granddaughter, Hayley and husband Jake Lester; his brother-in-law, Horace McCain and many nieces and nephews. After a private graveside service, a Memorial Service will be held at East Dallas Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. After, a reception will be held in the parlor of the church. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to East Dallas Christian Church.
