Mary Lois Buce's Obituary
Mary Lois Buce passed peacefully on January 22, 2010 after 90 joyful years as the wife of late husband Hap Buce, mother of Connie Buce Fife, grandmother of Kelley Fife Wideman and Sam Fife IV, great grandmother of Jackson Wideman, mother and grandmother in-law to Sam Fife III and Matt Wideman, and beloved sister of Mary Elizabeth Rhodes and Carmen Stecher. She was the matriarch who was there to lead you, comfort you, praise you, or set you straight when needed. Mary Lois was born November 1, 1919 in Tampa, Florida where she developed a lifelong love of the beach and graduated from Tampa University. After her husband returned from WWII, the couple moved to Texas. Soon, Mary had convinced both of her sisters to make the move west and helped them to find wonderful husbands and become true Texans. Always active, Mary flew planes with her husband, was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Dallas Gun Club, Republican Women’s Organization, & Brookhaven Country Club, routed for her Dallas Cowboys, became a recognized Dallas Water Colorist, traveled the world, and bought a ranch outside of Ranger, Texas. Of course, she only allowed her husband to buy that ranch because it was close enough for her to walk to catch the bus back to Dallas! Mary Lois helped her husband to establish Buce Aerial Mapping and Surveying. The couple later built the Buce Building on Addison Airport. She loved going to family events and was very proud of all the nieces and nephews, who were treated to famous “Granny” hugs and stories as long as they would listen. Mary had a humorous outlook on life that kept her vibrant. Helping her to recover from a heart attack over 20 years ago! She will be remembered for her driving positivity, kind spirit, and “take no prisoners” approach to life. God bless her. She will be missed! Visitation is scheduled for 7:00pm Monday, January 25, 2010 at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 9220 Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, January 26 2010 at St. Monica Catholic Church, 9933 Midway Road, Dallas, TX 75220. Interment will follow at Restland.
