Mary Thompson McBeth's Obituary
Mary Thompson McBeth of Plano, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021. Mary was born September 21, 1928 to Robert Hal and Lula Grace Thompson. She grew up in Texarkana and moved to Corpus Christi in 1957 with her husband, H. C. McBeth, where she raised her family and enjoyed many activities such as Bridge Club, Garden Club, volunteering at Spohn Hospital and volunteering at her children’s schools. She was a devoted mother who loved and treasured her children. When her children were grown, she returned to work, retiring in 1988 as the Public Affairs Officer for Corpus Christi Army Depot, a position she enjoyed immensely. After retirement Mary loved to go on cruises, she went to Alaska, South America, Russia, Australia and various other countries over the years.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband in 1997 and her son, Stephen McBeth, in 1992. She is survived by her daughter, Melody Bruce, son-in-law, Byron Bruce, and grandchildren Andrew and Alex. She is also survived by her sister, Dottie Hays, and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her daughter and family as they were privileged to have her live with them for the last 15 years.
Mary was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Allen, Texas. If desired, memorials may be sent to the North Texas Food Bank.
