Mary Zotos' Obituary
Mary Zotos, a lifelong Dallas resident, passed away after a brief illness on January 30th, 2025 at the age of 85. She was born on November 5th, 1939 in Houston, Texas, the first child of Nick and Sophia Chotas. The family soon moved to Dallas, where she became a cherished member of the Greek Orthodox community. She attended the University of Dallas, and in her spare time was a fashion model for Neiman Marcus. Through the Greek community Mary later met the love of her life, Nicholas John Zotos. By 1963 they were married and soon blessed with two sons, John and Nicholas. Mary was deeply devoted to the Greek Orthodox Church where she was a familiar face to all. She served for years as Chair of the Greek Food Festival Pastry Committee . Mary was also a proud member of the Daughters of Penelope, a Greek Orthodox women's organization dedicated to philanthropy. Professionally, Mary excelled as an executive assistant at SMU's Cox School of Business. Her determination and hard work were evident in everything she did, earning her respect and admiration from her colleagues. In retirement Mary, also an avid reader, managed the church bookstore. Above all, Mary loved her family deeply. Her warmth, kindness, and dedication to loved ones will be remembered and cherished by everyone she knew. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Sophia Chotas, her beloved husband, Nicholas John Zotos and her aunt and uncle Amalia and Jimmy Mantzuranis. She is survived by her son, John Zotos, and wife, Raquel; her son Nicholas Zotos; her sister, Angie Eliades, and husband, Nick; her niece, Sophia Kobs and husband Ken; and her niece, Eleni Eliades; as well as many other extended family and friends. Mary Zotos’ life was a testament to her faith and dedication to family and community. All who knew her would acknowledge that she left behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. She will be dearly missed, may her memory be eternal.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 am, Trisagion will be chanted at 10 am and the funeral will follow immediately after on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas, 75240. Graveside services will follow at Restland Cemetery 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243.
