Michael Lee Rutledge's Obituary
Michael Lee Rutledge, 73, of Richardson, Texas died May 14, 2022, in the home he shared for the past 35 years with his wife. He was born on March 5, 1949, to Jack and Kate Rutledge in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mike married Pat Morris on August 16, 1974, in Austin, Texas. He was an ordained Presbyterian minister for 45 years. He established and thrived in private practice for over 40 years. Most recently, as he enjoyed retirement, he served as a part-time pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of McKinney and continued as a member of Grace Presbytery.
Mike survived by his wife, the love of his life for the past 48 ½ years, Pat Rutledge of Richardson. He is also survived by his son, Jason Rutledge of Southlake TX, his daughter, Megan Rutledge of Denton TX, his sister, Vickey Somerton of Edmond OK, and his brothers Thom Rutledge of Nashville TN, David Rutledge and Rex Rutledge.
After having some medical issues at the beginning of the year, Mike passed away peacefully in his sleep. He grew up in Plainview, TX and holds degrees from Austin College, Austin Theological Seminary University and completed an advanced training/post-grad program to become a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. While Pat enjoys retirement, Jason is a mathematics professor at NCTC and Megan is a veterinary professional. Mike enjoyed watching the Texas Longhorns, reading, counseling, spreading the Good Word, all animals and above all else, spending time with his family. Mike lived a life spreading joy, laughter and kindness.
