Michael Lewis Tate's Obituary
TATE, MICHAEL LEWIS was born June 15th, 1951 in Camden, Arkansas to Frank and Nell Tate. Growing up, he was the 3rd child in his family and had five sisters. He graduated from Fairview High School, Class of 1969. Mike joined the United States Air Force in 1973 and was stationed at Griffiss AFB in Rome, NY, Lajes AFB in Terceira, Azores, and McLellan AFB in Sacramento, CA before receiving an honorable discharge in January 1978. By April 1978, he was hired by Texas Instruments to work on two Government Missile programs: Harpoon and Tomahawk, building the guidance sections. Following TI, Mike went to work for SILSCO building high purity gas cabinets for the semiconductor industry. Mike transitioned to Maxim Integrated Circuits and was responsible for the planning, installation and plumbing of their cleanroom equipment. Mike is survived by his wife of 31 years, Judy; daughter, Elisha & Tom Vickers, Orange, TX; sons, Michael Jr. & Brenna, Nederland, TX, Chris & Deidri, Destin, FL, Austin, Garland, TX; mother, Nell; sisters, Linda & Benny Wilson, Karen Tate, Debbie & Bill Hutton, and Tammy Rankin; brother-in-law, Sonny Ferguson; and granddaughters, Ariel, Violet, and Autumn. He was preceeded in death by sister, Zelda in 2011; father, Frank and brother-in-law, David, both in January 2014. A Memorial Service for Mike Tate, who died Saturday, May 24th at Richardson Methodist Hospital will be held Saturday, May 31st, 2014 at 6:00 PM at the Proctor Funeral Home 442 Jefferson St. SE, Camden, AR. 71701 In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Tribute in Mike’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society m.cancer.org/myacs or the American Red Cross www.redcross.org
