Micky Mac Harrison's Obituary
Micky Mac Harrison, 80, of Dallas, Texas passed from this life into the eternal arms of his Lord Jesus Christ on July 22, 2017. During his short but courageous battle with cancer, Micky enjoyed countless visits and phone calls from family, friends, neighbors and employees who gave him a renewed spirit each day. Micky was born on June 29, 1937, in Henderson, Texas to Avis (MacCarter) Harrison and Dan Harrison who preceded him in death. He grew up in Kilgore, Texas, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Renee’ (Crunk) Harrison on June 8, 1957. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Micky was a devoted and beloved father and grandfather to his two sons, their wives and his six grandchildren all who live in Dallas and surrounded Micky with love throughout his recent journey. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years Renee’,.Eric (Jennifer) Harrison and Kai (Jackie) Harrison and grandchildren Bennett, Jessica, Artem, Travis, Maria, and Margaret. He was preceded in death by his sisters Pansy Jo (Harrison) Sparks and Ruby Nell (Harrison) Bolton. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. After graduating from the University of Houston, Micky began his lifelong career in the shoe “bidness,” as he called it working for Florsheim Shoe Company. He was the Vice-President of the women’s division of Florsheim in Chicago, Illinois before retiring in 1974. Micky and Renee’ moved back to their home state of Texas and founded their wholesale manufacturer’s representative company Remac, Inc. in Dallas. The company, whose name was derived from Renee’ and Micky’s middle names was established while writing a paper in college and the young couple was able to fulfill their dreams of running a company together. In 1978, Renee’ and Micky began selling their own brand of shoes which was also eponymously called J. Renee’. Through hard work and determination, they built a company that was successful beyond their dreams and they ran it for 40 years. The company is still thriving today under the leadership of their sons. In business and in life Micky was larger than life and beloved by all who came to know him. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and developed friendships from all his areas of interest. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him but the family rejoices in the well-lived life that Micky enjoyed. The family would like to especially thank Emma and Francisco for their long term loving care. We also thank those that cared for him in his last days: UTSW, Faith Hospice, Beverline, Juliet, Rees and Zippy.
