Mildred Fay Cofer's Obituary
Passed away peacefully into the larger life on Tuesday, November l6th, in Waco, Texas. She was born on December 5, 1921 in Vernon, Texas to C.A. and Lavada Sneed. She attended Texas State College for women (TWU) and completed her Registered Nurse’s training at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. She met her future husband, the late H. Lyn Cofer, on a train going to Baltimore, and they married December 17, 1943. After Lyn (Lt. USN) returned from his World War II postings, they settled in Dallas where they raised their two sons, Richard L. Cofer of Dallas and Bruce R. Cofer of Waco, who survive their parents. Mildred practiced as a surgical nurse at Chester Clinic, Dallas, and then assisted her husband as he established Cofer Printing Company, which operated in Dallas for several decades. Mildred was a long time member of Park Cities Baptist Church and several women’s groups. She was gracious, witty, warm and loved to read and travel. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother and friend. ‘ ‘ She is survived by her sons, Richard L. Cofer of Dallas: Bruce R Cofer and his wife Judy of Waco; grandchildren, Richard L. Cofer II of Austin, Douglas L. Cofer of Waco, and Jill Edinger of Seattle, Washington; great-grandchildren, Cameron D. Cofer, Katherine E. Cofer, Kensington B. Cofer of Waco, and Audrey E. Williams of Seattle, Washington. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of St. Catherine’s Center in Waco. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Restland Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, November 19, 2010 at Restland Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to Park Cities Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
