Mildred Carter Lowman's Obituary
Mildred Carter Lowman – beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother passed Thursday, September 17th at Baylor Hospital just three weeks shy of her 104th birthday. Mildred was born October 13, 1911 in Fresno, California. She graduated valedictorian from Alpaugh High School and from Central California Commerical College in 1930. Her first daughter, Louise Carter was born in Long Beach, California in 1932. After moving to Dallas in the late 1930’s, Mildred had her second daughter, Evelyn Gowen in 1942. Mildred was one of the earliest females to own a business in Dallas. She was the accountant, then owned College Inn Liquors on Knox Avenue for 19 years. Later in life, Mildred enthusiastically campaigned for Ross Perot and was always taking care of her friends and neighbors. She lived in her home in Northeast Dallas for 69 years until her passing. Mildred was proceeded in death by her daughter Louise Carter Miles; grandson Kerry Darrell Seifert; and husband James M. Lowman. She is survived by her loving daughter and caretaker Evelyn Seifert, her son by marriage James E. Lowman, four grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Services are at Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Funeral Home Wednesday, September 23rd at 3:00pm. Visitation is going to be held one hour prior service. Following the burial, please join the familiy for a reception on the patio of Enchilada’s Restaurant located at: 7050 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75231. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243 at Restland Road.
