Mildred M. Owen's Obituary
Mildred Anna (Marshall) Owen, of Dallas and Plano, Texas, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 26, 2017, only a few weeks short of her 100th birthday on December 25th.Mildred was born in Dallas, Texas on December 25, 1917, to Anna GeNeva (Hayley Marshall and William Clarence Marshall. She was the loving mother of three daughters and preceded by the passing of her husband, of 65 years, Ernest Murray Owen and her daughter, Margaret Ann Owen of Gainesville, Florida. She was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church from 1954 to present. Mildred graduated from Business school in Houston, Texas and worked into her 70’s as a long career as an Executive Assistant for many high-ranking executives. She worked for RCA Missile Test projects in Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral, Florida during the Mercury 7 Space Program era. Her family saw many exciting rocket launches of the original astronauts from their front yard. She worked for RCA Computer Systems, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, for the Director of Engineering. She was Executive Assistant to Head of Operations at Nortel Communications, Richardson, Texas. She was very proud of her career.Mildred and Ernest enjoyed traveling. They owned several boats while living in Florida and even out ran a hurricane once. But their favorite form of travel was their motor home. They spent many wonderful summers in Colorado. Their favorite repeat trips were to Colorado mountains and Destin, Florida. Mildred loved to watch sports on TV and kept up with the Cowboys and Mavericks. Mildred was a woman of great strength and character. She was a devoted Prayer Warrior for all those she loved.She is survived by daughters, Sandra O. Floyd, Allison O. Zadow and husband, Dr. Lynn D Zadow, both of Plano, TX; her six grandchildren, David O. Floyd of Louisville, Kentucky, John E Floyd and his wife, Christina B Floyd of Apex, North Carolina, Tammy Flagg Dowie and her husband, Sean Dowie of Gainesville, Florida, Dr. Scott A. Flagg of Maine, Sarah L. Zadow of Seattle, Washington, Drew W. Zadow and his wife, Chrissy Connelly Zadow of Richardson, Texas; her two great-grandchildren, Michael A. Floyd and Kathryn G. Floyd, both of Apex, North Carolina. Mildred was deeply loved and respected by her family and will be deeply missed.A funeral service will be at 9:30 AM on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Restland Abbey Chapel.
