MODENA ODELL SHAPPARD of Richardson passed away on November 4, 2009 in Richardson, Texas. She was born on March 30, 1911 to the late Beauregard and Ozella Dailey Hill in Childress, Texas. Modena was preceded in death by her husband, Hester Shappard; sons, Don and Gerald Smith; brothers, Elmer and Woodrow Hill and sister, Odessa Hill. She is survived by her loving daughter, Johnnie Luscombe; grandchildren, Burl W. Luscombe, Jr. and wife Carol, Carol Lee Downs and husband, Dr. J. Marcus Downs, Leslie Luscombe, Cindy Powell and husband Andy, Lisa Kennedy and husband Harlan, Donny Smith, Lori Beth Powers and husband Mark; great-grandchildren, Devin McNeal and husband Ben, Colleen Downs, Brian Downs, Samuel Stephenson, Henry, Douglas, and Nichols Kennedy and Katlyn Powers; sister, Opal Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. A service will be held in her honor at 12:00 pm, Monday, November 9, 2009 at Richardson East Baptist Church, 512 E Main St, Richardson, TX, with Pastor Wayne Lewis officiating.
