Nancy Ann Lipscomb's Obituary
Nancy Ann Lipscomb, 88 of Denton, passed from this life into eternity on February 27, 2022, after a long battle of declining health.
Nancy Ann Bowen was born on March 2, 1933, to two loving parents in Dallas, Texas. Nancy enjoyed swimming and tennis growing up. She loved traveling to downtown Dallas with her mother (Nina) on the street cars and shopping. She graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas in 1949 at the age of 16. After high school, she followed her sister Barbara to Baylor University in Waco, Texas where Nancy graduated in 1953 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She returned to Dallas and began teaching elementary school. She loved her students and they loved her.
At that time, she met Wyatt Lipscomb through a mutual Baylor friend, and they were married in 1956. Wyatt, a Baylor law school grad was a city attorney for the city of Garland then, so they moved to Garland, Texas. Two children (both sons) soon followed, Larry in 1957 and Marshall Scott in 1958. She was a loving stay at home mom for several years before returning to teaching school. She taught at Kiest Elementary school in Dallas and Beaver Elementary school in Garland, mostly teaching second grade.
Dedicated members of Reinhardt Bible Church in Dallas, she and Wyatt made sure their boys were brought up right.
Nancy was predeceased by husband Wyatt, her mother Ruth (Nina) Miller Bowen, her father, Paul (Pop Pop) Hill Bowen, her sister Barbara and one grandson, Nicholas. She is survived by her sons Larry and Scott, numerous nieces, nephew, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 2:00pm in the Wildwood Chapel. There will be a hour visitation prior to service from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at the same location. Burial will take place immediately following the service.
