Naomi Ruth Ellis' Obituary
Naomi was born January 24, 1924 in a family home in Paris, TX to Hugh Roy and Olivia Dale Pearson Ellis. She graduated from Powderly High School as Valedictorian in1941. She then graduated from nursing school as a Registered Nurse (RN) in 1946 through a program of Paris Junior College at the Sanitarium of Paris. She began her nursing career in 1946 at the McAllen Municipal Hospital. She served in several capacities during her nursing career from being a hospital nurse, a private doctor’s office nurse, and as an Occupational Health Nurse. The longer stints of her career were 20 years with Union Carbide near Victoria, TX; she was then 15 years with Thomson Electronics in Carrollton, TX which had evolved from Mostek Corp.Naomi’s real passion was bowling. She was inducted into the Victoria, TX Bowling Hall of Fame in 2008. She had been City Champion in Victoria 3 times, and was 3 times Champion of the 600 Club and had served in several officer positions in different bowling leagues. She was also champion in numerous team and doubles events. Naomi bowled in approximately 20 national tournaments throughout the USA.Since January 2014 Naomi has resided at the Cedar Lake Nursing Home in Malakoff, TX. She is survived by two sons: John Hugh King and Jerry Donald King; and one brother: Donald Bedford (Butch) Ellis. Naomi was predeceased by one son, James Forest King; and by two brothers: George Elston Ellis and Edmond Wesley Ellis. Naomi was 94 years of age at the time of death on January 31, 2018.Ms. Ellis will be laid to rest at Restland Cemetery in Dallas.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
