Norma Farmer Hanes' Obituary
Hanes, Norma was born in December 15, 1921 in Dallas, Texas and passed away on April 20, 2014 in Princeton, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, H.R. (Randy) Hanes; sons, Randy Jr. and Marty Hanes; and parents, Charles and Lonnie Farmer. Norma graduated from North Dallas High School in 1939 and then attended North Texas State Teachers College. While working for IBM and Nieman Marcus she met her future husband, Randy Hanes. They were married on January 6, 1946 and had three sons, Randy Jr., Charles and Marty. She was very active in PTA and all her children’s activities. Norma worked at Sanger Harris and Macy’s for many years, receiving several awards for outstanding customer service. She was very active in her church, Wilshire Baptist where she taught Sunday school and volunteered every week to feed the homeless at the downtown shelter. Norma was a bright light on everyone’s life and now is in the loving arms of her Lord and family. She is survived by son, Charles Hanes; daughter-in-law, Georgianna Hanes; granddaughter, Kim Lower and husband, Mitch; great granddaughter, Taylor Lower; sister-in-law, Jane Hanes Mason and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Restland Memorial Chapel.
