Odie Clyde Windham's Obituary
Odie Clyde Windham passed from this earthly life to his heavenly home on January 30, 2019. He was born to Charlie Clide and Nena Gladys (Flowers) Windham on July 9, 1937 in Burkett, Texas. Odie attended high school in Santa Anna, Texas where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. Odie never met a stranger. While in high school, he was elected president of the student body. After graduation, he worked in the oilfields of West Texas and coached college basketball to put himself through college. He graduated from Howard Payne University with a degree in Psychology and went to work for Sears in their HR Department. After 30 years with Sears, he retired as a District Manager of Computer Systems.He especially enjoyed making other people laugh with his jokes and quick wit. He could put a smile on anyone’s face. Taking care of others was his top priority. His memory was just incredible. He enjoyed working with his two grandsons, Noah and Ethan Kane on complex math problems and equations. He spent hours figuring out how to simplify problems so he could better explain them. Talking sports with the boys was also something he really enjoyed.Odie is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Sue Windham of McKinney, TX, his son, William (Bo) Harrington, wife Robin and granddaughter Nicollette of Hawkins, TX, his step-daughter Heather Kane, her former husband Bill Kane, and grandsons Noah and Ethan of McKinney, TX, his sister Faye Dean of Grapevine, TX, his brother Arthur and wife Carolyn Windham of Coleman, TX, and many other family members and friends.Funeral services will be conducted by Chris Vannatta (of First Baptist Church McKinney) at Restland Memorial Cemetery, Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville, Ave, Dallas, 75243, on Saturday, February 2, 2019. Visitation begins at 2:00 pm with services immediately following at 3:00 pm.
